202 Indoor Percussion competes in Independent A Class in Winter Guard International and started in 2021. We are open to students enrolled in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District schools as well as students who are home-schooled who live within district boundaries.
Student/Parent Info Meeting Monday, October 27th, 2025, 7:30 PM (PCHS Band Room)
Please note: All fees to your school band booster program must be paid in order to participate in 202 Indoor Percussion.
There is a $30 Audition Fee payable online via the registration form below. Audition fees will only be payable online and are required to complete audition registration. All members are required to register before beginning the audition process and will not be permitted to participate in auditions until registration has been completed and the audition fee has been paid. Students and parents will receive links to the exercise packets in their audition registration confirmation email. Please do NOT share the packet with students that have not registered for auditions. Specific audition excerpts will be given to all students on the first day of auditions. Students are expected to attend all three audition dates and any absences should be communicated in advance with Mr. Kelly and Mr. Vanderwall.
Please wear loose-fitting athletic clothing and running/cross-training shoes to all clinic & audition events regardless of your desired instrument. Bring sticks, mallets, and water, and be prepared to participate in visual movement blocks even if your desired placement is with the front ensemble.
While students may have a certain “position” with their home school marching percussion section, we strongly encourage students to accept the position offered to them with 202IP even if it’s not their first choice. The amount of growth you’ll experience throughout the winter will prepare you for a future in that desired position! Remember – there are students auditioning from several schools!
Cymbal players doubling on a wind instrument for the 25-26 season will be asked to play the first 16 bars of the “1st” part (or only part) for Cycle 2 (2025) of the ILMEA Jazz Audition. Click Here for the etudes. If your instrument part isn’t available (Flute, for example), please choose an instrument in the same key (Vibraphone, for example).
